Lady Pioneers earn pair of Festival wins

Stillwater High’s softball team bounced back from its season-opening loss against Carl Albert and went 2-0 during the opening day of the Stillwater Festival on Friday at Babcock Park.

In their first game, the Lady Pioneers edged rival Ponca City, 4-3, in eight innings. With the international tiebreaker in effect, Jerika Rosenquist started the eighth on the second base and was sacrificed to third by Kayla Bunney.

Jamie Kraybill then recorded the game-winning RBI single. Shelbi Redfearn went 2-for-4 with an RBI, Kraybill also posted two hits and Rosenquist added a triple. April Argo earned the win in the circle.

SHS routed Lawton Eisenhower, 7-1, in its second game of the day. Redfearn went 3-for-3 with a home run, double and three RBIs and Chelsea Sala was the winning pitcher.

The Lady Pioneers (2-1) continue Festival play today as they take on Putnam City North at noon at Babcock’s north field. They will also meet Sapulpa at the south field at 4 p.m.
