Howell competing for world title

American Quarter Horse exhibitor Will Howell, a Stillwater native, will be competing in the Ford American Quarter Horse Youth Association World Championship Show in Oklahoma City through next week.

Howell will be among nearly 3,000 youths, ages 18 and under, from the United States, Canada and other countries participating in the show.

Howell will compete with his American Quarter Horse Jewels Ollie Jay, a seven-year-old sorrel, in tie-down and breakaway roping.

“AQHA Presents,” AQHA’s weekly television show on RFD-TV, will feature Howell and others competing at the event on its Sept. 10th episode at noon and 10 p.m., and will repeat on Aug. 13 at 11:30 a.m.

Howell is the 15-year-old son of John and Shawn Howell and is a freshman at Stillwater High.
