Pawnee tops Morrison; Yale falls

PAWNEE — 2A No. 15 Pawnee blanked Morrison, 9-0, in seven innings on Monday.

The Black Bears (5-2) picked up a home run and two RBIs from Colby Ellis, while Chace Green added a three-run double.

Nick Bell improved to 3-1 on the mound, giving up just four hits.

Pawnee coach Jared Freeman was pleased with his team commiting just one error.

“I like the way we’re playing defense right now,” Freeman said. “Two of our last three games we’ve had one error or less. If we put that with pitching well and hitting, we’ll be in great shape.”

PHS heads to the Barnsdall Tournament on Wednesday.

In other area action, Yale dropped a 19-6 contest at Wellston on Monday.

YHS outhit Wellston, 12-9, but walked or hit 15 batters.
