Stillwater’s Outlaws part of new alliance

The Stillwater Outlaws and the Oklahoma Metro Football League joined the Minor League Football Alliance last week. The MLFA is comprised of over 180 teams from across the country and 30 teams from Mexico.

The MLFA has organized a playoff system for leagues across the country to work into a Spring and Fall League National Championship. The two national champions will then square off for the GameWear Team Sports National Championship. The winner of this championship will be crowned the “Best Minor League Football Team in the World” and presented with a title belt as well as 50 custom uniforms from GameWear Team Sports. Teams may also receive assistance for travel expenses to attend national playoff contests.

“This is an exciting development for our first year team,” said Matthew Jones, owner of the Stillwater Outlaws. “It means that not only will we be able to vie for the league championship, but have the chance to take it to a state, regional, national, and possibly multi-national level.”

The preliminary brackets show the OMFL winner playing the Central Football League’s winner in the Midwest Bowl. The CFL is made up of 10 teams with seven from Oklahoma.

The OMFL opened its season on Saturday with the Outlaws’ opener March 8 at Ruff-Neck Stadium on SE 22nd and Eastern Avenue in Oklahoma City.
