Wal-Mart to open second Supercenter

A second Wal-Mart Supercenter in Stillwater debuts convenient, one-stop family shopping with a full line of groceries and a wide selection of merchandise offerings on Friday, Jan. 19. Doors will open at 7:30 a.m.
For those that need to grab a bite to eat while they shop, they can stop by the new full-service delicatessen and place an order while they browse the 198,975 square-foot store at 4545 W. Sixth Avenue.
Additional grocery amenities include a bakery, a frozen food section, meat and dairy departments, beer sales and fresh produce sections.
As a Supercenter, the store features 36 general merchandise departments including apparel, accessories and fine jewelry, an expanded lawn and garden center, health and beauty aids, and a full line of electronics showcasing the latest in computers, iPods and high-definition televisions.
For added convenience, there will be a Tire & Lube Express, a pharmacy with two drive-through lanes, a Subway restaurant, a one-hour photo lab, a nail salon, a SmartStyle hair salon, a family fun center and a Wal-Mart Connect Center for wireless phone sales.
The store will be open to customers 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and will include 21 full-service and eight express check-out lanes with an additional register in the fitting room area.
The store will announce $37,500 in donations, including $5,000 each to the Stillwater Fire Department and the Stillwater Police Department, and $8,000 to the Children’s Museum. As a part of Wal-Mart’s national effort to honor troops, veterans and their families, the store will also provide $3,000 to the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and will begin the grand opening ceremony with the National Guard presenting the colors.
Charitable contributions will be provided to several area organizations including: Head Start; Junior Service League of Stillwater; Special Olympics of Oklahoma; Stillwater Area Success by 6; Stillwater Domestic Violence Services.
Store Manager will be Stephanie Zimmerman who started as an hourly associate 10 years ago at a store in Chubbuck, Idaho.
