Computer classes offered for seniors

Stillwater area seniors have been enjoying all the amenities at the senior center and preparing for upcoming events. We have computer classes starting on Monday Tuesday. The classes will focus on basic computer skills, computer security and digital cameras. Every Wednesday, there will be snooker lessons at 2 p.m. The Tuesday movie “Greener Mountains,” will begin at 5:30. For more information on classes and activities or to pick up an August calendar, call 747-8080 or stop by 1015 E. 12th.

Wednesday morning, lady pool players teamed up for some heavy but light-hearted competition. The afternoon participants found enjoyment in dominoes, canasta and puzzles. Computer students are becoming more familiar with programs and learning to perform tasks efficiently.

Sit n’ fitters arrived Thursday morning with fitness on their brains as they worked to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Line dancers boot scooted to a new routine to energize their bodies. The afternoon folks could be found playing dominoes, canasta, snooker and pool while visiting with good friends. The evening brought participants from all over to play their instruments and sing out as others listened to their joyful tunes.

Friday morning, sound of pool balls falling into pockets could be heard as ladies played rounds of 8-ball and snooker. Crafters enjoyed each others company while using their skills in painting and sewing. The afternoon was full of laughter and games of dominoes, canasta, pool, snooker, puzzles and pitch. Daniel Devers, computer instructor, continued to help class participants expand their minds and learn more about the computer.

The snooker table and pool tables were busy Monday morning as a lively group of ladies improved their shot in billiards. Oil painters brushed beautiful and delicate strokes on various pieces of art. In the afternoon, sounds of dominoes and cards shuffling could be heard as participants played canasta and dominoes. Computer students arrived eager to learn more about programs and the Internet. The winners of Social Bridge were reported as DeLoris Sanders, first and Paul Gilbert, second. Yoga practice was a deep, relaxing session of asanas to enhance full range of motion and clear blocked energy. Practice included sitting meditation.

Sit n’ fit class participants had a brisk workout Tuesday morning as they marched around the room and limbered their bodies with leg and arm exercises. Line dancers boot scooted their way to fitness. In the afternoon, game tables were full as seniors relaxed and enjoyed games of pool, snooker, dominoes, pitch and canasta. Winners reported for Duplicate Bridge were Betsy Baldwin/ Teresa Tanner, first and Patricia Logan/ Don Lorett, second. In the evening, movie enthusiasts enjoyed watching “Fool’s Gold.”
