Seniors ready for pool tourney

Activities in the City of Stillwater‘s Senior Activities Center this week include pool tourney with Ponca City on Monday. Tuesday movie is “First Sunday” at 5:30 p.m. For more information, call 747-8080 or stop by 1015 E. 12th.

Wednesday morning, the lady pool players rejuvenated their bodies with competitive rounds of billiards. The ceramics class finished their spring session with a morning of cleaning miss piggy and roly-poly dragons. Cards shuffled and dominoes clanked as folks gathered for rounds of dominoes and canasta. Computer classes learned how to use the word processing features such as typing, saving and printing various materials.

Sit n’ Fitters filled the exercise room Thursday morning as they stretched their bodies to limber joints and muscles in the body. Line dance practice is a popular form of exercise as participants enjoy various tunes and learning new dance steps. Voices rang out in the center during the afternoon hours as seniors played bingo, dominoes, pool, skipbo, rummikube, canasta and bridge. In the evening, musicians played joyful tunes while listeners tapped their toes to the beat.

Friday morning, lady pool players smacked balls into the pockets as they practiced technique. Crafters shared Friday morning with friends as they worked on finishing projects and getting ideas for new ones. The afternoon offered great bonding time with friends as everyone gathered for dominoes, pitch, canasta and puzzles. Computer students learned about surfing the net and the difference between dial-up and DSL.

Saturday participants enjoyed an afternoon of Texas Hold’em. The winner of Texas Hold’em was Mert Wyatt.

Lady pool players enjoyed a morning of 8-ball as they teamed up and competed for first place.

Seniors came down to the center for an afternoon of dominoes, canasta and puzzles.

Computer classes studied more topics on surfing the net and learned how to navigate the Internet and change the home page. Winners of social bridge were Marvin Fly, first, and JW Thomas, second.

Sit n’ Fitters continue to shape up for the summer months with extensive exercises in order to remain active and healthy seniors. In the afternoon, participants enjoyed playing pitch, dominoes, pool and canasta while laughing with good friends.

Duplicate bridge winners were Linda Stone/ Ken Lane, first; Betty Abenante/ Murna Raff, second and Camille Johnston/ Terry Miller, third. In the evening, movie goers enjoyed watching “The Golden Compass.”ꆱ
