OSU football fullback pays visit to Life Center
At the Life Center, sports have always been an important focus of the program. Many of the participants are die-hard fans, have participated in sports during high school and college or are retired athletes and coaches. Because of this, the center offers activities that provide participants an opportunity to continue enjoying sports as a leisure pursuit.
In addition to daily exercise programs, the center offers sporting activities such as hockey, volleyball, football, parachute games, bowling, tennis and basketball. All of these sports are adapted so that anyone can participate regardless of their abilities.
Benefits from involvement in such activities can include keeping joints and large muscle groups active through range of motion exercise, improvements in hand/eye coordination, increases in self-esteem from a positive and successful experience and social interaction. Other sports related activities offered include discussions and sharing of sports experiences, trivia, watching sporting events on television, trips to sporting events in the community and opportunities for participation in sports and exercise in the community.
