Life Center Participants Lenora Maret, Ruth Peyton and Cathy Miller (l-r) take a hydration break with bottled water donated by Quality Water Services and berries from the “Berry Special” tasting and reminisce group held that morning. Participants and staff at the Center are encouraged to drink water four times a day during breaks to ensure adequate water intake to prevent dehydration. In addition, the topic of heat stroke and dehydration is presented in the Health education classes throughout the year. According to the Center’s LPN, Lisa Jones, heat stoke is especially dangerous to older adults and children, and drinking enough water year round is important even when a person is indoors.
