P-T board discusses bond issue Monday

Susan Brinker - NewsPress

Discussion of the recently-approved bond project and a projected timeline is one of the items on the agenda for the Perkins-Tryon Board of Education meeting Monday.

Encumbrances to be voted on include the general fund of $5,565,916 and the child nutrition fund of $224,925. Other budget business involves a discussion and vote on the fiscal year 2009 general fund working budget for the district.

In other business, discussion will center on the textbook/gifted and talented committee and the safe school/healthy fit advisory committee members for the 2008-9 school year.

A vote will be taken for approval of the reciprocal loan agreement for fiscal year 2009 between the general fund, building fund and sinking fund for temporary deficits and waive any interest as recommended.

A vote will also be taken to approve or not approve the 2008-9 Perkins-Tryon estimate of needs and sinking fund schedule as prepared by the district auditors and presented by the superintendent.

A bid will be presented and voted on for the Sager house as recommended.

In other business, discussion will be held involving an out of state trip for band students to play at the Festival of States in the San Francisco area during the last week of May. Also voted upon will be fundraiser requests for the current school year.

A proposed executive session will be held to discuss the employment of certified personnel for the position of a kindergarten teacher and junior high special education teacher and any other personnel as recommended. A vote will follow when the board reconvenes.

This meeting will be held at 7:30 p.m. at 103 S.W. Second.
