Cushing adding teachers
School board to consider contracts

Finance and personnel changes will dominate the Cushing Board of Education meeting on Monday at 7 p.m.
Three encumbrances will be discussed for approval: general fund encumbrance in the amount of $1,136,807; co-op fund No. 12 in the amount of $14,092 and cafeteria fund No. 22 in the amount of $7,885 for a total of $1,158,784 for the school year 2008-9.
In other business, the school board will consider renewal of annual membership to Oklahoma Schools Advisory Council; high school drama department’s spring field trip to New York; middle school choral department to schedule an end-of-the-year school day trip for students; high school vocal music department to start a Tri-M Chapter; high school choral department’s spring trip out-of-state; five star interlocal cooperative’s annual assessment; custodial supply quotes; policies on administering medication to students, physical education, Healthy and Fit School Advisory Committee/Safe School Committee, safety program, school security drills and harassment; food service bids for 2008-09; serving as LEA for Oklahoma Technical Assistance Center and declaring repairs on hail damaged roof an emergency.
The board will vote to approve/disapprove the resignation of the following: Marcia Unsell, Sunnyside Elementary teacher; Alan Exton, custodian; and Norma Reel, cafeteria helper.
The following personnel will be considered for employment: Paige Swenty, Sunnyside Elementary teacher; Benny McCollum, Transportation Department shop hand; Katie Biswell, class size reduction second grade teacher at Sunnyside; Kristal Anderson, Sunnyside Elementary teacher; Dr. Mary Meritt, OTAC consultant; Mary Kathleen Dick, OTAC consultant/ evaluator; Sherry Maxwell, OTAC statistical evaluator; Cynthia Watson, child nutrition collections clerk and Judy Hutchison, cafeteria helper.
The meeting will be held in the Administrative Office, 1401 N. Little St.쇓
