P-T BOE meets Monday at 4 p.m.

A special meeting will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. in Room 206 of the Perkins-Tryon Intermediate School by the Perkins-Tryon Board of Education before the regular board meeting at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
The two items to be covered are a discussion, interaction and whole board development on the topic of roles and responsibilities of the superintendent and board members with OSSBA facilitator and discussion and interaction over a bond issue, dated August 26.
The regular meeting will begin in the board room with a vote to approve the following: general fund encumbrances of $1,225,442; building fund encumbrances of $52,500; bond fund encumbrances of $300,000; child nutrition fund encumbrances of $356,890; the activity fund report and any activity fund transfers as presented.
In other business, discussion and a vote will be held on increasing the price of breakfast and lunch for students and adults; approval of the vendors for dairy and food products for the 2008-09 food service program as presented; approval of student handbooks for elementary, intermediate, junior high and high school; approval of a five-year contract with Great Plains Coca Cola Bottling Company; approval of visitor bleachers, 24 sheets of various-length sheet metal, 25 joints of four-inch pvc waterline, and three long tables as surplus property and direct the superintendent to dispose of as per policy; approval of the statutory waiver application for Diane Gordon, media specialist and a proposed executive session to discuss employment of OPAT coordinator and teacher and to employ certified personnel for the position of a part-time Algebra I teacher, full-time pre-k teacher and elementary teacher, full-time Spanish teacher, support personnel for the position of a junior high cook; computer lab assistant; junior high office assistant and any other certified or support personnel as recommended and personnel assignments and FY09 negotiation proposals.
After the executive session, the board will reconvene to vote on the above positions.
These meetings will be held in the Administration Building, 103 S.W. Second, Perkins.
