Morrison ed board awards bid for bonds

The Morrison Board of Education will discuss the search for a new superintendent Monday and award bids for $240,000 in building bonds.
The board accepted Superintendent Dennis Casey’s resignation Wednesday. Casey, who has been superintendent for eight years, has accepted a position with the state CareerTech Department. Discussion of the search will occur during the 7 p.m. regular meeting.
Also at that meeting, the board could approve employment of Hillary Patterson as high school math teacher, girls’ basketball coach and track coach for fiscal year 2009, and employment of an elementary principal for FY09. The board could enter closed session to discuss those items, along with the superintendent search. Any action must occur in open session.
Among agenda items, the board is expected to discuss:
• General fund bills of $73,803.85;
• Building fund bills of $23,660;
• Child nutrition fund bills of $5,084;
• Student transfers;
• Open transfers.
During a special meeting at noon, the board is scheduled to receive bids for the building bonds and award them to the lowest bidder.
Both meetings will be in the Administration Building Board Room, Second Street and C Avenue.
