Frank
The 53rd Frank reunion on Aug. 19 at the Morrison Fire Station was attended by 102 of the descendants of John and Maggie Maigler Frank, immigrants from Germany to Seward, Neb., before settling in the Morrison area.
There were framed pictures, along with history albums and picture albums to view at the reunion.
Of the cousins remaining of the third generation U.S. settlers — Edith Adler, Morrison; Carmelita (Mrs. Fritz) Frank, Stillwater; Beulah Terrell, Pampa, Texas; Eunice Yarnall, El Centre, Calif.; and Ethel Waller, Elba, Ala. — only Edith Frank Adler, 94, was in good enough health to attend.
The oldest person to attend was Bill Adler, 95, Edith’s brother-in-law. The youngest was Dalton Holbrook, son of Don Holbrook of Broken Arrow and great-grandson of John Frank. Attendants traveling the farthest were Don George (son of Ruthann Frank George and grandson of Bill Frank) and his wife, Toni, from San Antonio.
Songs of the 1920s were sung to Edith by the crowd: “How Ya Gonna Keep ’Em Down on the Farm?,” “Don’t Sit Under the Apple Tree with Anyone Else But Me,” “Down by the Old Mill Stream” and “We Don’t Know Why We Love You Like We Do.”
Since last year’s reunion, several have died including Bertha (Mrs. Harry) Frank; her son-in-law Bill Finley; C.R. Frank’s grandbaby, daughter of Ryan Apperson, Grace Ann Apperson; Earl Frank (son of George Frank); Patti Adler (granddaughter of Edith Frank Adler); Bill Hornberger IV; and Edna Frank Leiphardt, daughter of Charlie Frank.
Attending were Edith Adler, Ethan Masters, Larry and Linda Adler, Monty, Jared, Jordyn and Olivia Adler, Sherry Williams, Jaqi Williams, Barbara Carter, Carolyn Frank, Jeff, Diane and Tone Frank and Grandma Pat, Roland and Kathy Frank, Kylie Mae Casey, Sharon Stallworth, C.R. and Reta Frank, Buddy Apperson, Barbara Benton, Taylor Watford and Autumn Hogan, Janet Frank, Precy Frank, Charlie Frank, William Frank and Jami, James and Jaci and Jackson Baker, all of Morrison.
Others attending were Deby Brown, Amanda Holba, Ernest and Dee Holba, Kevin and Dianne Holba and Kaleb Holba, all of Yale; Sharon West, Bill Hornberger, Bill and Emma Adler, Charles Voise, Marilyn Overholt, Chris and Jodi, Brennan and Anna Thompson, Clint and Joy Adler, Pat and Linda Thomas and Reynae, Ashtyn, Petyon and Taytum Quigley, all of Stillwater; and Dorothy Vasek, George and Margie, Jason and Austin Janzen, John Vasek, Jennifer, Kila, Erica, Jacob, Shawn, Ashlee Vasek, Kenny and Sharon and Timothy Vasek, Geraldine, Brad and Taylor Finley, Vivian and Kari Stephens, Tammy, Emily and Jazzmine Vasek and Michael Bischoff, all of Perry.
Also attending were Pat Richards and Larry Michaelis, Fort Hays, Kan.; Edgar and Dorothy Low, Fairmont; Don and Antoinita George, San Antonio, Texas: Marge Holbrook and Bob Holbrook, Edmond; Marilyn Anthony, Oklahoma City; J.D. and Pat Frank, Glencoe; Don and Cheryl Holbrook, Dalton and Dylan, Broken Arrow; William George, Washington, Pa.; and Amy, Tara and Ryan Novotny, Wichita, Kan.
The 54th Frank reunion will not be held on the third Sunday of August, but on Aug. 30, 2008, at the Morrison Fire Hall and a dance will follow at the Morrison Community Building led by C.R. Frank and his band.
