Burk

Sixty descendants of Calvin and Dora Phillips Burk and their guests gathered July 7 at Cottonwood School (Community Center) in Stillwater for a family reunion hosted by Bobby Burk, Jeanne Burk Longan and John and Bitsy Longan.

They ate special dishes of food made from recipes of Mom and Grandma Burk.

Larry Van Schuyver was back from his second tour of duty with the U.S. Navy in Iraq, and Jason Boykin recently returned from South Korea, where he was serving in the U.S. Army.

Hostess gifts were presented along with door prizes, gag gifts, gifts for the children and red and blue bandannas stamped 7-7-7.

Family members shared memories, especially of youngest sister Mary Burk Jenny, who died Sept. 26, 2006.

In the past year, five baby girls were added to the family. The youngest was 6 weeks old.

Those attended included Bob Jenny, Lee Jenny and Melissa and Molly Jenny, Spring Valley, Wis.; Jeanne Burk and Jim Longan, Lincoln, Neb.; John and Bitsy Longan, Kennedale, Texas; Jacki Longan Jenny, Kansas City, Kan.; Paul and Spencer Burk, Brewster, Neb.; Bobbi Marie Burk, Omaha, Neb.; and Jason and Renee Burk Boykin and Lourdes, Arizona.

Others attending were Larry and Linda Van Schuyver, Richard and Sheree Green and Zack and Nikki and daughter, all of Oklahoma City; Connie Burk Lee, Newcastle; Arthur and Bonnie Burk Gladden and John and Kelly Burk Nyberg and Gabe and Elise, all of Cushing; J.J. and Bana Phelan, Jayden, Jayce and Jeryn, and Gabrielle Musil, guest, all of Crescent; Brandon and Contessa Sorum and Brandon Jr., Salina; and Judy Burk McClure and Dacey Jerkins, Morrison.

Attending from Stillwater were Bobby Burk; Mae Burk Wallace; Bill Burk; Elnora Burk; James and Misty Burk and Ashlynn, Brianna and Paden; Amanda Gladden and Daniel Walden; Gage Weaver; Jackson Longan; and Jacob and Jessica Longan and Taylor.

Guests were Fran Longan, Cindy Keig, Charlene Longan and Gayla Crain.
