April 25, 2008 10:56 am

The newly formed Oikos Prayer Center will have an open house on May 1st - the National Day of Prayer. The open house will be held from 10 a.m. to noon and from 1 - 3 p.m. in the foyer of the Postal Plaza, 720 S. Husband St. Refreshments will be provided.
The Oikos Prayer Center is an arm of Oikos Network Ministries, led by Quinn and Becky Schipper of Stillwater.
The prayer center is an interdenominational ministry that seeks to partner with the churches of Stillwater to promote the work of intercession. Dr. Matt Miles, the director of the prayer center, explained, "We have a desire to see the believing community in Stillwater work together for the good of the city and beyond.
“We can think of nothing better around which followers of Jesus can unite than prayer. Christians may differ somewhat in our theological beliefs and political views, but we all affirm the power of God and the necessity of prayer. Jesus declared that His Father's house was to be a house of prayer for all nations. The Oikos Prayer Center exists to help God's family in Stillwater become that house of prayer."
According to Dr. Miles, "The open house is our way of thanking our supporters as well as letting others know of the work we will be doing and inviting them to join us." He added, "Special thanks goes to Jan Filtz, an interior designer here in Stillwater, who blessed us with her talent and expertise by helping us decorate and arrange the prayer center."
The prayer center will begin operation on Monday, May 5th. Prayer requests can be made in person, by mail, or by phone. The address of the prayer center is: Oikos Prayer Center Postal Plaza, Suite 4 720 S. Husband St. Stillwater, OK 74074.
The phone number is 372-HOPE. A Website is presently under construction.
