• Private Darlene Cantrell has returned to her home in Glencoe with her parents, Don and Dana Cantrell, and her sister, Dawnell.
She has finished her boot camp training at Fort Jackson, S.C. She will now finish her senior year of high school and will complete AIT next summer. She has not yet been told where that training will be.

• Two Stillwater residents complete degrees this summer at Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford.
Renee Williams earned a master’s degree in school counseling.
Michael Wininger earned a master’s degree in educational administration.

• Michael Solomon, a junior at Stillwater High School, was invited to attend two Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education’s Summer Academies this summer.
The first was at Southwestern Oklahoma State University. This was Solomon’s second year to be accepted. The academy focused on alternative energy, and participants toured wind farms and Chesapeake Energy.
Solomon was also selected to participate in the OSRHE Oklahoma State University Aerospace Academy. At this academy, participants built rockets, toured the NASA Johnson Space Center and learned about aviation and aerospace.
Solomon is the son of Michael and Brenda Solomon. He has built a wind generator behind his home to power part of his home.

• Garrett Gibson, Ralston, will appear on KOTV channel 6 in Tulsa on Monday at 7 p.m. in the Gimme The Mike contest. The contest showcases northeast Oklahoma singing talent.
Gibson was one of more than 500 entrants and one of just 20 to make the finals and appear on television. He will appear in week five, the last week of the contest, and will be judged on vocal talent and stage presence by a panel of three judges.
The public will also pick a wild card entrant by phone-in vote.
