• Aidan Tait, daughter of David A. Tait and Laura Hubbs-Tait, Stillwater, received an honors degree in Latin American studies at Harvard University’s spring commencement.
She was one of 69 Harvard undergraduates in the class of 2008 to graduate with highest honors from the university.
While at Harvard, Tait studied the politics, languages, literature and history of Latin America, spending a semester as an exchange student in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and traveling throughout the region.
She was a frequent contributor to the sports page of The Harvard Crimson.
A Rhodes Scholarship finalist in 2007, she also worked as an English teacher in a rural Costa Rican middle school during the summer of 2006 and later volunteered in Brazil for Veneer, a Rio de Janeiro-based organization that uses sports to teach employability skills to impoverished youth.
During her senior year, Tait wrote an honors thesis on the 1978 World Cup held in Argentina, analyzing the Argentine military dictatorship’s manipulation of the event to propagate nationalism within and outside the country.
She also helped organize and run an annual conference in Central America for Latin American high schoolers aimed at promoting dialogue about democracy, human rights, economic reform and hemispheric security.
Next year, Tait plans to be in Philadelphia completing a one-year post-baccalaureate pre-medical program at Bryn Mawr College, after which she hopes to spend another year in Brazil while applying to M.D./Ph.D. programs in the United States.
She plans to pursue a career in primary medical care and health policy reform in Latin America and Africa.

• Corbin Edmisson, a 2006 Stillwater High School graduate, was named to the Dean’s Honor Roll for the spring semester at Oklahoma City University.
