• Cushing native Larry Bill Williams was honored April 11 at the Northeastern State University Campus Dinner Finale, the fourth event honoring Williams, who is retiring as NSU president on June 1.

Proceeds from the event, which was attended by friends from across the state, went to the Dr. Larry and Pam Williams Endowed Scholarship Fund.



• Twenty area students were inducted this spring into the Oklahoma State University chapter of Phi Kappa Phi national honor society.

Inductees from Stillwater were Nicki L. Aubuchon-Endsley, psychology doctoral student; Tessa M. Brawley, English junior; David Chang, aerospace engineering senior; Ashlee D. Cole, elementary education junior; Michael L. Elliott, aerospace engineering junior; David L. Hansen, engineering and technology management graduate student; Jered J. Harlan, veterinary medicine; Robert E. Krause, history doctoral student; Summer Luster, history senior; Holly M. Miller, secondary education senior; Mandy A. Warne, mathematics junior; Jason Wells, chemical engineering senior; Derick Whitley, veterinary medicine; and Aaron V. Wilson, economics senior.

Inductees from Pawnee were Amanda H. Dietz, accounting junior; Katherine D. Ellington, sociology senior; and Julie A. Horine, human development and family science graduate student.

Also inducted were Lindsey Rodman, English junior, Perkins; and Aswin T. Subketkaew, agricultural economics senior, Perry.



• Laurel Welborne, Stillwater, was named to the Dean’s list for the winter term at Johnson and Wales University. She is pursuing an associate’s degree in culinary arts at the Denver campus.



• Kara L. Muske, daughter of Glenn and Debbie Muske, Stillwater, has been selected to receive the Viola Larson Jordheim Memorial Scholarship of $500 at North Dakota State University.

She is a graduate student studying human development and education. She is a member of NDSU College of Human Development and Education Graduate Student Advisory Council, NDSU Gerontology Search Committee and Gerontological Society of America and is an AARP volunteer.



• Claudia B. Mornhinweg, Stillwater, has been recognized as a Nationally Certified Teacher of Music by Music Teachers National Association.

She received a bachelor’s degree in music from the University of Central Oklahoma in Edmond and a master of education degree from East Central University in Ada. She most recently taught vocal music at Byng Public Schools and is now library media specialist at Will Rogers Elementary in Stillwater.

She has been a church organist and pianist for 40 years and is now organist and pianist at Highland Park United Methodist Church in Stillwater.

She has had a private piano studio for 30 years. She is a National Board Certified Teacher and a member of Oklahoma Music Teacher’s Association and International Federation of Music Clubs.



• Scott Meinke, Stillwater, was named to the fall Dean’s List at American University in Washington, D.C.

He is a senior studying art history in the College of Arts and Sciences.
