• Evalyn Harper, Stillwater, woke to a unique surprise on her seventh birthday on April 9.
She received music and greetings from several children’s music artists and bands, including Milkshake, Charity and the JAMband, ScribbleMonster, Mary Kaye, Uncle Moondog, Mr. Billy and the Sugar Free Allstars. Three acts, Steve Weeks, The Hipwaders and Phredd even wrote and recorded new songs just for Harper.
She and her parents, Lisa and Monty Harper, host a weekly podcast about children’s music called the Kids Music Planet Podcast.
“I wanted to do something special since the release date for this week’s edition of the podcast fell on Evalyn’s birthday,” said her mom, producer of the show.
“I asked a few of Evalyn’s favorite musicians for birthday greetings and I was overwhelmed by the positive response.”
“She was floored,” said her dad. “We served her breakfast in bed while she listened to the podcast. She knows these voices from her favorite CDs and from XM Kids satellite radio. I watched Evalyn’s face as they gave her their personal birthday greetings and I’ve never seen a kid look so happy.”
