• Three Oklahoma State University human resources students took home the championship from the state HR Games competition at the Oklahoma City Marriott in February.

The team, composed of Jake Gamboa, Marisa Butler and Charliez Foong and led by Dr. Tom Stone, an OSU human resources professor, defeated the team from the University of Central Oklahoma in two rounds.

HR Games is an event for student HR chapters designed to foster friendly competition between universities.

It also prepares students for the human resource profession and the Professional in Human Resources certification exam conducted by the Human Resource Certification Institute. Using a game show format, teams of up to three undergraduate students from each school compete over several rounds.

The OSU team will travel to San Antonio, Texas, March 28-29 to compete in the Southwest Regional HR Games competition. The team will represent the Oklahoma against teams from nine other states.

The regional champion will earn a trip to the Society for Human Resource Management national conference in Chicago, Ill., in June.



• The Hill Irish Dance School took its largest group of dancers ever to the 13th Annual Texas State Championships and Feis dance competition in Dallas on March 1.

Dancers from Oklahoma, Norman and Stillwater include Jordan Kemmerly, Kaylea Bixler, Madison Donaldson, Jennifer Gussert, Mary Crone, MariBeth Sellers, Delaney Kobzdej, Kayla Atkinson, Lydia Hill, Kelsea Bixler, Kylie Lockwood and Ava Maag.



• Ben David Todd, Cushing, graduated in December from OSU-Okmulgee with an associate in applied science in diesel and heavy equipment technology — natural gas compression.



• Army Pvt. Phillip A. Meeks has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C.

He is the son of Phillip N. and Sheila K. Meeks, Stillwater, and a 2007 graduate of Stillwater High School.
