Robert Edwon Cox

Robert Edwon Cox, 87, of Glencoe died Friday, Oct. 10, 2008, in Glencoe. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Strode Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Bob Brown officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Strode Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

He was born on January 19, 1921, in Ripley to Albert Ross Cox and Nola (Cooper) Cox. He married Nathalee Madge Inman on Dec. 10, 1940, in Stillwater. She preceded him in death on Sept. 26, 2007.

He attended schools in Yale, Ripley, Perkins, Free Silver and Buzzard Roost. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a Corporal in the Medical Corps. He was stationed in the Pacific Theatre at Leyte, Philippines, and Okinawa, Japan, where he worked the front lines tending to the injured. He was a member of the Church of God.

He was a master carpenter and worked as a cabinet maker at Oklahoma State University for many years. He enjoyed woodworking and handcrafted many violins throughout his life.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; five brothers; and two sisters.

He is survived by three daughters, Diana James and her husband Jess of Glencoe, Debera Brown and her husband Robert of Alva, and Margaret Buckner and her husband George of Orlando; 12 grandchildren; and 14 great grandchildren.
