Memorial services for Roy Louis Eyler Sr., 76, of Medford, will be at 11 a.m. Friday in the First Baptist Church of Medford. The Rev. Bobby Smith will officiate. Cremation has occurred under the direction of Hills-Ely Funeral Home, Medford. The U.S. Army will conduct military honors.
He was born Dec. 20, 1931, on the family farm near Sumner, to Ralph and Merle Moore Eyler and died Saturday, Oct. 4, 2008, in Sumner County Hospital District No. 1, Caldwell. He graduated from Sumner High School. He worked for a seismograph company after graduation. In 1953, he entered the Army, serving until 1955. He worked for a seismograph company again in Texas, Mississippi, Oregon, California, Utah, Montana and Oklahoma. He was employed by various Farmers Cooperative grain elevators, propane terminals and gas stations. When he retired, he operated a golf cart rental business in Medford.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Medford, the Medford Golf Club, Bass Fishermen of Oklahoma and the American Legion Post No. 37 in Medford.
He was preceded in death by one brother and two sisters.
Survivors include three sons, Colly Wayne Eyler of Medford, Owen Dean Eyler of Denver and Roy Louis Eyler Jr. of Tucson, Ariz.; seven grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Carol Tate of Langlois, Ore. and Jessie Shields of Stillwater.
Memorials may be made to the Medford Golf Club with the Hills-Ely Funeral Home, P.O. Box 280, Medford, OK, 73759, serving as custodian of the funds.
