Jack Leon Gates
Jack Leon Gates, 78, of Perry, died on Tuesday, July 15, 2008, in Stillwater. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday in Strode Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Darrell Bullock officiating. Following the services, a meal will be served at Couch Park. Strode Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
He was born on Aug. 16, 1929, in El Reno, to Alvin Gates and Rosella (Gordon) Gates. He married Ruby Fultz in May of 1955 in Pawnee. They later divorced. He married Barbara Beaver in 1988 in Winfield, Kan. They later divorced.
He grew up in Yale and also lived in Stillwater and Perry. He was a member of Victory Baptist Church. He was previously employed by the City of Stillwater and also worked for the railroad.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother; one sister; one son, David Wayne Gates; and one grandson, Gerald Dan Beaver.
He is survived by two sons, Ronald Fultz and his wife, Linda and Elvis Gates and his wife, Jackie; three daughters, Rose Cooksey and her husband, Mike, Loretta Cooksey and her husband, Gerald and Feebie Cooksey and her husband, Edward; 19 grandchildren, Roy Parmley, Curtis Parmley, Amanda Harrell, Tina Johnson, Jason Beaver, Barbara Beaver, Timothy Cooksey, April Cooksey, Chris Cooksey, Everett German, Charity Alender, Peter German, Phillip German, Andrew German, Elana Kay, Pauline McGuire, Laura Wayman, Dorothy McGuire and Gloria Wayman; 26 great grandchildren; one brother, Tim Gates; and one sister, Joetta Blackwell.
Active pallbearers will be Elvis Gates, Roy Parmley, Mike Cooksey, Derieck Kelly, Curtis Parmley, David Alender Jr. and Mike Rains.
