Norman W. Jeffries

— Norman W. Jeffries, age 78, died in Stillwater Medical Center Saturday, May 3, 2008. Strode Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Norman was born in Okemah, but spent much of his early life in Missouri. He graduated from Missouri School of Mines at Rolla with a degree in petroleum engineering. Later, after serving in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, he earned two degrees in geology from the University of Missouri, Columbia.
His career included 10 years with Shell Oil Company, followed by a number of years as an independent and consulting geologist with small companies in the Denver and Rocky Mountain area. He also worked in Oklahoma with Golden Oil Company. He moved to Stillwater in 1988 because of ill health.
Dr. Jeffries was a long-time member of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists and Sigma Xi.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley, her relatives, as well as friends.
