Burl C. Poling, 88, of Perkins, died on Tuesday, May 6, 2008, in Stillwater. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday in Strode Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Tom Kirby officiating. Interment will be in Elm Grove Cemetery. Strode Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
He was born on June 15, 1919, in Perkins, to Sigel J. Poling and Martha Leona (Lacy) Poling. He married Ethel Irene Nottingham April 15, 1944, in Stillwater. She preceded him in death on Nov. 7, 1989.
He worked for Payne County District 3 for over 30 years and served as the Elm Grove Cemetery Association secretary for many years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and one sister, Ethel Sissons.
He is survived by one son, Kenneth Poling and his wife, Chandra, of Perkins; one grandson, Brian Ward of Wichita, Kan.; one brother, Francis Poling and his wife, Louise, of Yukon; five nieces, Janette Howie and her husband, Guy, of Del City, Kathy Harris and her husband, Curt, of Ada, Mary Kay Pratt and her husband, Francis, of Stillwater, Gale Noble and her husband, James, of Tulsa and Mary Buck and her husband, John, of Tulsa; and one nephew, Raymond Ely and his wife, Anna, of Stillwater.
Memorial contributions may be made in his name to Elm Grove Cemetery Association, 2515 W. 92nd Ave., Perkins, OK 74059.
