Barbara Ann Olinghouse

Barbara Ann Olinghouse, 71, of Stillwater passed away in her home Thursday, May 1, 2008. Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday at Strode Funeral Home Chapel with Minister Anthony Black officiating. Strode Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Barbara was born Dec. 9, 1936 in Eagle City to Charles Martin and Jessie (Stott) Martin. Her father passed away in 1950. Her mother Jessie married Robert Blanchard and they moved to Yale. Barbara graduated from Quay High School in 1955. She later met Don Olinghouse and they were married in 1956. On June 20, 1956, Barbara and Don were blessed with the birth of their only child, a daughter, Vickie Ann.

Barbara spent most of her life taking care of the home and raising her daughter, Vickie. Don and Barbara separated and in 1978 she joined the staff at Oklahoma State University, working in the department of Residential Life. She spent the next 30 years bleeding orange and making sure thousands of students were served a hot meal.

Barbara’s pride for OSU and her job there were only surpassed by her pride in her family and friends. She enjoyed taking trips, watching OSU games and listening to music with her friends. But none of that held a candle to the fun she had spending time with her daughter Vickie and her husband Rex, her grandson Dustin and his wife Staci and their two daughters, Daelyn and Kennedy. The time she spent with her great-granddaughters were some of the most cherished moments of her life.

Barbara was preceded in death by her father, Charles Martin; mother, Jessie (Stott) Blanchard; stepfather, Robert Blanchard; one sister, Bonnie Meyers; and one brother, Joe Martin.

Barbara is survived by her daughter, Vickie Ann Austell and her husband Rex of Stillwater; one grandson, Dustin Jacobs and his wife Staci of Tulsa; two great-granddaughters Daelyn and Kennedy Jacobs of Tulsa; one brother Eldon Martin and his wife Joyce of Mannford; and one sister, Betty Felin of Kansas.
