— Helen Briggs Edie, 93, of Stillwater, died Tuesday, April 15, 2008, in Stillwater. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in Strode Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Larry Eslinger officiating. Strode Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
She was born Oct. 4, 1914, in Brookfield, NY, to Grant and Lottie Bartholomew. She married Truesdell Briggs in 1934 in Norwich, NY, and they later divorced. She married George Edie in 1954 in Holly Hill, Fla., and they later divorced.
She was a seamstress and a member of Southside Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husbands.
She is survived by one son, John Briggs and his wife, Carol, of Ripley; one daughter, Diane Fish and her husband, Dick, of Newark Valley, NY; four grandchildren, John Anthony Briggs of Stillwater, Mark Briggs of Dallas, Texas, Cassie McLain of Pawnee and Mitchell Briggs of New York; six great grandchildren; and one niece, Berniece Murray of Norwich, NY.
