Etna Hilley Hall

Etna Hilley Hall, 94, of Stillwater died on Wednesday, April 9, 2008 in Cushing. Graveside services will be held at a later date in Fort Gibson National Cemetery. Strode Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

She was born Oct. 4, 1913 in Shamrock, Texas, the fourth of five children born to James Thomas Hilley and Anna Itasca Alberta (Harris) Hilley. She married Tom L. Hall on March 6, 1946 in Oklahoma City. He preceded her in death Aug. 20, 1975.

She was a graduate of Enid High School in Enid. She moved with her Air Force husband to many bases in the United States and Japan. She was a member of the First Christian Church and the American Legion. She was named a Gold Star Mother and sponsored many children at the American Legion Children’s Home in Ponca City.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and her only child, Paul Swinehart, who was missing in action over the Sea of Japan in 1956.

Memorial contributions may be made in her name to the American Legion Children’s Home, 1300 Summers Place, Ponca City, 74604.
