Lee Elden Fry, 88, of Broken Arrow died Wednesday, April 9, 2008 in Tulsa. The family will greet friends from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. on Sunday at Hayhurst Funeral Home, 1660 S. Elm Place, Broken Arrow. Graveside services will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Monday at Fairlawn Cemetery, Stillwater. Strode Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
He was born March 11, 1920 in Stillwater to Orphas M. Fry and Nellie B. (Cox) Fry. He married Barbara Lee Brown on April 27, 1950 in Van Buren, Ark. She preceded him in death Oct. 11, 1997.
He attended school in Stillwater and at Pleasant Valley School. He graduated from Stillwater High School and earned bachelor’s of science and master’s of science degrees from Oklahoma State University.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and in the 45th Infantry Division of the Army during the Korean War. He received a Purple Heart and retired as a major.
After his retirement, he worked as a lubrication salesman for Phillips Petroleum Co., and as an asphalt specialist for Allied Materials. He was a member of the V.F.W. Consistory in Tulsa and the Retired Officers Association in Muskogee and Tulsa.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; one brother, Glen Fry; and one infant sister, Nellie Laverne Fry.
He is survived by four sons, David Lee Fry and his wife Paula of Shawnee, Johnny Lynn Fry and his wife Kathy of Broken Arrow, Ted M. Fry of Stillwater, and Larry G. Fry and his wife Saen of Stillwater; five grandchildren, Adam Fry of Woodward, Meagen Fry of Shawnee, John M. Fry and his wife Tera of Shreveport, La., Angela Bartlett and her husband Jeff of Stillwater, and Phillip Fry of Stillwater; and five great-grandchildren.
