Bernard E. ‘Barney’ Floyd

Bernard E. “Barney” Floyd, longtime Cushing resident, passed away on Friday, April 11, 2008, at his residence at the age of 68 years.
The son of the late Forrest E. Floyd and Rela Miller Floyd, Barney was born Aug. 12, 1939, in Denver, Colo., moving as a small child to Cushing, where he was reared and educated.
In 1960, he entered the U.S. Army, serving in Germany for three years prior to receiving his honorable discharge.
He married Malinda Boley on Jan. 11, 1965, in Cushing.
Barney had worked for Dresser Industries for more than 20 years and for Turner Tank for more than 10 years prior to his retirement. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and was an avid OU football fan and would talk football with anybody who would talk football with him.
Survivors include his wife, Malinda, of the home; one son, B.J. Floyd of Cushing; two brothers, Bennie and Timmy Floyd of Cushing; one sister, Alberta Houston of Cushing; one granddaughter, Kourtney L. Floyd; one grandson, Jaden T. Floyd; and many other relatives and friends.
Graveside services will be Sunday, April 13, 2008, at 2 p.m. in Greenwood Cemetery southeast of Yale, with the Rev. Dewey Stanford, pastor of the Oak Street Baptist Church, officiating.
