Mildred May Dunbar

Funeral services for Mildred M. Dunbar, age 90, of Stillwater, are scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday in the Palmer-Marler-Carberry Funeral Home Chapel with Deacon Bill Dunbar officiating. Interment will be in the Sunset Cemetery. Services are under the direction of the Palmer-Marler-Carberry Funeral Home.
Mrs. Dunbar was born Sept. 18, 1917, to Benjamin and Artie Lessie (Pyle) Creek, in Carmi, Ill. She grew up and attended school in the Carmi area later marrying Raymond Dunbar and moving to Stillwater in 1951. Mr. and Mrs. Dunbar owned and operated Dunbar Liquor and owned several rental properties in the Stillwater area. Mr. Dunbar passed away in 1974. Mrs. Dunbar had a faithful companion, Robert Shedrick, for 14 years. She later married Hank Swindall; he later preceded her in death. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church and a lifetime member of the Stillwater Elks Lodge. Her hobbies included playing golf, cards and traveling in her R.V. She passed from this life to be with her Lord and Savior Sunday, April 6, 2008, in the Sterling House in Stillwater.
She is survived by two brothers-in-law, Clarence Dunbar of Stillwater and Jack Dunbar and wife, Ruth Ann, of Anchorage, Alaska; three sisters-in-law, Wanda Wheeler and husband, Erce, of Longview, Texas, Lois Jackson of Mabank, Texas and Huleen Walker of Hawkins, Texas; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, one sister, Gladys; one brother, Jimmy, one sister-in-law, Oleta; and one brother-in-law, Jimmy.
