Billee Val ‘Granny Babe’ Williams Fisher

Billee Val “Granny Babe” Williams Fisher, 92, of Stillwater entered glory rejoining her husband Bill, Friday evening, March 14, 2008 in Oklahoma City.

Mrs. Fisher was born on a farm outside of Stillwater on her grandfathers land run claim on August 31, 1915, and was the daughter of Albert Davis and Bertha (Hager) Williams. She grew up and attended school in Stillwater. She graduated Stillwater High School and attended Oklahoma A&M for three years. She withdrew from College to help her husband through College.

In 1933 she married Wilbert H. Fisher in Chandler and he preceded her in death in 1995. She worked as a Realtor in Stillwater for Lloyd Daugherty who was a long close friend and also worked for Harry Martin. She retired in 1976.

She was a former member of the First United Methodist Church in Stillwater and a 24-year member of the Hillcrest Baptist Church in Stillwater. She enjoyed oil painting, antiques, history, and sharing history with little children.

She was very proud of her family heritage, having made the run and her father being a cowboy and territorial lawman before and after statehood. Her husband Bill was a civil engineer for the Architects Department at OSU and the love of her life.

Her husband was also a city engineer for Stillwater. Mrs. Fisher also served as Cub Scout Den Mother for all of her sons and was a Bellmon Belle. She was the first woman Realtor in Stillwater and one of the first women Realtors in the State of Oklahoma.

She enjoyed helping others and her volunteer work with the Sheerar Museum in Stillwater. She also did volunteer work at the St. Andrews Thrift Store, the ICU Waiting Room at the Stillwater Medical Center. She and her husband opened up their home for flock Bible studies.

When they retired they moved to Rogers, Ark. on Beaver Lake and had Baptisms in there back yard and had Church parties in their home.

She and her husband served on the board for Trinity Christian Church in Rogers, and help start and served on the Board for Trinity Christian Church in which they also supported. She enjoyed gatherings with her old Realtor friends.

Mom said to tell everyone that she “loved them as much as a piece of cheese.”

The family wishes to thank friend, church members and medical care givers.

She is survived by three sons, William A. Fisher and wife Janet of Edmond, Davis Allen Fisher and wife Julia of Sacramento, Calif., Curtis Hoy Fisher and wife Scottie of Rogers, Ark.; three grandchildren, Alyssa B. R. Fisher, Keith Allen Fisher and Sonya Ellen; one great grandchild, Elian Fisher.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and four sisters.

Funeral Services will be held at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, March 26, 2008 at the Hillcrest Baptist Church in Stillwater with Reverend John Ware and Reverend John Dickey officiating. Interment will follow in the Glenwood Cemetery on Thursday. Arrangements have been entrusted to the card of the Palmer-Marler-Carberry Funeral Home of Stillwater.
