Council amends terms of utilities

Jessica Jackson

Stillwater City Council approved a resolution to amend the terms and conditions of service for the municipal utilities Monday night.

The original terms and conditions of service were adopted in 1978 and have been updated periodically since.

The newest proposed changes include clarification regarding general policy, special programs, billing, service agreements, collection policies, fraudulent use and service rules. A definition of household member also was added. Few other adjustments were made.

The council also discussed amendments to the Land Development Code, which again will be changed slightly before being presented to the council as an ordinance.

Paula Dennison, development services director, said the changes were mostly minor clarifications.

Also at the meeting, City Manager Dan Galloway encouraged residents to do their holiday shopping in town, adding that the tax goes to helping pay for the fire department and other necessities requiring more funding.

“Think home,” he said. “Shop in Stillwater.”

The City Council will meet again at 5:30 p.m. Monday in the Council Hearing Room of the Stillwater Municipal Building, 723 S. Lewis. Agendas can be found on the city’s Web site, www.Stillwater.org.
