Couple with pair of delis adds horse boarding business

Allie Essary said she has always wanted to own a horse boarding facility.

She just didn’t expect it to happen so soon.

Essary, 23, and her husband Brad, 26, own two Red Rock Bakery & Deli locations in Stillwater and recently opened Rocking E Equine Facility at 3309 W. Airport Road.

Brad graduated from Oklahoma State University with an accounting degree and said he had always wanted to own a bakery.

Now Allie, a Stillwater native with an OSU degree in animal science emphasizing ranch operation, is doing what she has always wanted.

“I help Brad with the bakery and helps me with the farm,” Allie said. “I went to school to own a boarding facility. This is always what I’ve wanted to do.”

Their facility includes 42 acres. They have barn space for 15 horses and pasture space for five more. They expect to add more pasture in the future and increase the number of horses they can board.

They have an indoor riding arena with lights and sprinklers to keep the dust down. There is also an outdoor riding arena, a round pen and pasture riding.

Another benefit of their facility, they said, is their house is on the property, so they are always close in case the horses need something.

That also provides extra security.

“We have a lot of different levels of care,” Brad said. “We offer basically as much care or as little care as people want. There are people that come out everyday and work with their animals and we do very little and then there are people that come out once in a month and we predominantly do everything the horse needs for the month.

“Obviously those range in price.”
