County opens bids

Payne County commissioners opened bids for road improvement projects Thursday.

Eightieth Avenue, between Country Club and Range roads, was the first improvement project. Bids were offered by Quapaw Co. of Stillwater; Bailey’s Paving Co. of Carney; Dobson Brothers Construction of Lincoln, Neb; and Kerns Cos. of Stillwater.

The second project is located at Lakeview Road between Cottonwood and Range roads. The third project is for Jardot between Airport and Richmond roads. All four construction companies offered bids for all projects, which are overlays of asphalt. The projects and bids were only brought before the commissioners. No action was taken on them.

A tort claim was brought to district 1 Commissioner Bill Deering concerning a traffic accident as a result of a narrow road in the district. No action was taken on the claim.
