Larceny suspect in court

A Stillwater man pleaded not guilty to charges of grand larceny on Tuesday.

Shane Lee McHenry, 32, was charged in Payne County District court on July 28. He is accused of taking 15 sheets of 4-by-4-foot pre-formed stainless steel that belonged to Victory Energy without permission.

An arrest warrant was issued July 29, and McHenry was taken into custody Friday by the Payne County Sheriff’s Department.

According to an affidavit signed by Cushing Police Chief Terry Brannon, during a non-custodial interview on July 21, McHenry said he sold the sheets to Advanced Steel in Tulsa and received about $387 for slightly more than 800 pounds of stainless steel.

McHenry told Brannon he thought the steel was scrap since Victory Energy no longer built dryers, according to the affidavit.

Virginia Banks was appointed by the court to represent McHenry. The case has been placed on the preliminary docket for Sept. 8.
