New sign OK’d

Planning Commission elects officers

Vice chair Greg Fox was elected chair of the Stillwater Planning Commission during Tuesday’s meeting. Also, Becky Teague was appointed vice chair and named a representative for the board of adjustments.

In a unanimous vote, the Planning Commission approved a specific use permit for Rusty Shaw, which will allow an electronic message sign to be added to the present sign at OnCue, 724 N. Perkins Road.

The existing sign has a 3-foot 4-inch by 7-foot 10-inch marquee on the bottom portion that has to be changed manually. Shaw plans to replace the marquee with a 3’8” x 7’10” electronic message board.

A special permit was required since the property is zoned commercial shopping. Other requirements that Shaw met were that the electronic message display does not cover more than 40 percent of the sign area; there is only one electronic message sign proposed for the property and the display shall not emit any flash.

The next commission meeting is scheduled for Aug. 19 at 5:30 p.m. in the Commission Hearing Room, City Hall, 723 S. Lewis.
