Miss Rodeo USA hits Pawnee

Miss Rodeo USA Kristin Scott is scheduled to make a three-day appearance in Pawnee at the 23rd annual Pawnee Bill Memorial Rodeo, being held Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

Scott was crowned as the 43rd Miss Rodeo USA during the International Finals Rodeo held in Oklahoma City in January.

Since then, she has appeared at two to three rodeos each month, in addition to a full schedule of publicity appearances and media events representing the International Professional Rodeo Association and the sponors of the Miss Rodeo USA Pageant.

In Pawnee, Scott will assist with this year’s Pawnee Bill Memorial Queen Pageant, a contest which produced the 2008 Miss Rodeo USA first runner-up, Summer Davis.

Currently residing in Anderson, Ala., Scott was born in Cedar City, Utah and raised in Kingman, Ariz. She entered her first rodeo at age 5 and her first queen contest when she was in high school.

A recent graduate of the North Alabama Wellness School of Massage, she has put her career as a massage therapist on hold for a year to travel as a spokesperson for the IPRA and rodeo in general.

“Becoming Miss Rodeo USA is both a privilege and an honor,” said Scott, in a statement. “Growing up in rodeo my whole life, as both a spectator and as a competitor, I’ve always wanted to share my passion for this great sport.”

The 23rd Miss Pawnee Bill Memorial Rodeo Queen will be crowned at 7 p.m. before the Saturday night performance of the rodeo.

Coordinated for the Rodeo Committee by Anita Johnson, the pageant will also announce winners in the princess and teen divisions on the same night.
