Council meets Monday

Monday’s Stillwater City Council meeting will begin with a proclamation declaring the month of August as “Clean up Stillwater” month.

The following items will appear on the consent docket: approval of the remediation and easement for closed landfill area in connection with the runway extension project at Stillwater Regional Airport; authorize the city manager to enter into an agreement with Meshek & Associates for development review engineering services; approve bid recommendation for the Public Works Department’s annual materials and miscellaneous construction services for August through October; approve project agreement with Oklahoma Department of Transportation to provide a 2-inch asphalt overlay of the access road on the west side of Lake McMurtry and authorize the mayor to sign the project agreement documents; approve purchase of property at 302 S. Ramsey and authorize mayor to sign the real estate sales and purchase contract; set date of public hearing to consider closing of street easement at 798 and 1060 E. Knott’s Avenue for September 8; accept water line easement from Rural Water Corporation #3 for a water line along the corporation office site on Range Road; accept the following 12th Avenue project easements, Robert Owens Kerns Trust, parcel # 215, 1102 S. Blakely, roadway easement, Robert Owens Kerns Trust, parcel #215.1, 1102 S. Blakely, temporary driveway and Margaret E. Romshe, parcel #216, 1220 W. 12th Avenue, roadway easement.

Release of mortgages for the following Homebuyer Assistance Program recipients will be considered: Todd and Misty Parry 1512 E. Will Rogers Drive, Ryan and Jeannette Atteberry 1005 E. Krayler Avenue, Patricia Thompson 14 Elmwood Circle and Kaci Garrett 912 S. West Street.

Council will receive public input regarding the closeout of the 2005 Community Development Block Grant project, an ADA compliant sidewalk constructed from Perkins Road to Main Street along Virginia Avenue and through Strickland Park, including a pedestrian bridge over East Boomer Creek; a request to close a general utility easement located on property at 1308 and 1317 S. Shumard Court and a request to close a portion of a general utility easement located on property at 616 N. Washington, 907 W. Cantwell and 910 W. Connell.

A presentation, discussion and possible action will take place regarding proposed lease of land to the Humane Society.

Board members will break into executive session to hear confidential information regarding pending workers’ compensation claims filed by Justin Reedy, Stephen Heath Hall, David Strickland and Michael Payne. Possible action might be taken upon return to public meeting.

This meeting will begin at 5:30 p.m. in the Stillwater Municipal Building, 723 S. Lewis. Information can be found on their website at and will be televised cable channel 23.
