Hearings waived in IBC Bank robbery

Suspect will appear before grand jury in next two weeks, deputy says

A man accused of robbing IBC Bank in Stillwater waived his preliminary and detention hearings Wednesday and consented to an order of detention.

Ricky Dean Turner Jr., 23, appeared in the U.S. District Court, Western District of Oklahoma, Wednesday to face federal bank robbery charges. He is accused of flashing a hunting knife at a teller at IBC Bank, 1900 N. Perkins, on the morning of Nov. 29 and taking $5,000.

Steve Rogers, courtroom deputy for Magistrate Judge Doyle Argo, said Turner will go before a grand jury sometime during the next two weeks. If there is enough cause to indict Turner, the jury will do so, Rogers said, and Turner will then be scheduled for an arraignment sometime in the 30 days following the indictment.

An armed robbery warrant was issued for Turner on Dec. 20. He turned himself in to authorities Sunday after fleeing on foot from an accident in which he was involved in Ardmore at 3:30 a.m., according to FBI reports.
