Library Friends plan fall book sale
Friends of the Stillwater Public Library will host its annual Fall Used Book sale Sept. 25-28.
Thousands of used hardbacks, paperbacks, children’s books and videos will be available for purchase.
“The Friends sale has something for everyone,” said Library Director Lynda Reynolds. “Hard to find novels, paperbacks by the tubful, mysteries, cookbooks, science fiction, travel, religion — it’s all there.”
The sale will be on the second floor of the Stillwater Public Library’s north building. Books will be priced at $1 for hardbacks, 50 cents for paperbacks and 25 cents for children’s books.
The sale begins with a “Members Only Preview” Sept. 25 from 5 to 8 p.m. Friends of the Library membership is open to everyone and will be available at the door or during business hours at the Stillwater Public Library. Membership is $10 per year. Buyers at the preview sale are limited to 100 books, including 50 children’s books.
The sale opens to the general public on Sept. 26. Hours for the public sale are Friday, noon to 8 p.m., and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
On Sept. 28, the Friends host the IGA bag sale, during which an entire bag of books of the buyer’s choosing is available for $1. The number of bags purchased is not limited. The bag sale runs from 1 to 3 p.m.
“Proceeds from the book sale go right back into the library,” Reynolds said. “With the Friends’ hard work and the public’s support in purchasing books, the library received over $20,000 in books, CD books, summer programming and year round activities this year. The Friends of the Library are making it possible for our community to have materials and programs that we otherwise could never have.”
The Friends of the Library work all year collecting and sorting gently used books from public donations and books that have been removed from the library collection. Donation bins are located in each lobby of the library where books, DVDs, CDs and magazines are accepted year round. Tax receipts are available.
