Thursday, the U.S. Supreme Court settled a challenge to the Second Amendment by affirming the right of the individual to own guns and keep them in their homes. The issue revolved around a ban of gun ownership in Washington, D.C.
Police entered a home, found his gun, confiscated the gun and charged the home owner with breaking the law. He went to federal district court, which agreed with the him against the city law. The city of Washington appealed to the Supreme Court. Liberals and leftists were hopeful to destroy the Second Amendment.
The court affirmed the traditional right of individuals to own guns, ending the controversy about whether one must be a formal member of a militia. When the amendment was written, every able-bodied man was considered a member of the “militia.”
The American concept of being able to own firearms derives from “natural law” including the right of self defense superseding any man-made law to the contrary. This should give an insight into why they wrote “we hold these truths to be self evident …endowed with certain inalienable rights …”
Leftists hate the idea of natural law and would just as soon forget the words of the Declaration of Independence and the Second Amendment because they will never be able to subdue the American people as long as they are armed.
The decision was 5-4. We need two more conservative judges. Obama opposes gun ownership. He must be defeated.
