Dale Wray Groom

Funeral services for Dale Wray Groom, 69, of Pryor, were held at 2 p.m. Monday in Key Funeral Home Chapel of Pryor. Services were under the direction of Key Funeral Home of Pryor.

Dale was born July 7, 1939, in Little Rock, Ark., to Lemuel Dowing and Muriel (Johnson) Groom. He died Friday, Aug. 15, 2008, in Tulsa. Dale grew up in the Stillwater area. He married Juanita Oliver in 1958. He then married Letha Irene William on Jan. 3, 1976, in Orange, Calif. They lived in California for a short time before moving to Pryor in 1978. He enjoyed writing and was a member of the local Writers’ Guild. He enjoyed leather working and loved to travel. Dale was a member of the Local Paper Workers’ Union and was president for several years. He loved to spend time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by three daughters, Deborah Saunders and husband, Steve, of Ardmore, Barbara Phillips and husband, Vernon, of Locust Grove and Stacy Ra Caudill and husband, Gary, of Glenpool; nine grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren with one on the way.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Letha; grandson, Matthew Groom; and one brother, Lemuel “Copy” Groom.
