Final preparations are underway for the fifth annual “Champagne & Diamonds” fundraiser to benefit the Saville Center.
The event will take place April 5 at Karsten Creek Clubhouse in Stillwater. Mike Gundy is honorary chairman for the evening, which will include heavy hors d’oeuvres and live entertainment provided by Val Joe Gladden.
The highlight of the evening is the chance to win an 18 karat white gold diamond pendant provided by Jackson Diamond Jewelers. Chances will be sold for $100 each, but only 100 chances will be sold. Each chance is represented by a glass of champagne with a simulated diamond in it. One glass will hold the lucky number that wins.
Jackson Jewelers has provided diamond jewelry for the previous four “Champagne & Diamonds” fundraisers. This year, the business is donating more than $13,000 in diamond jewelry including a 2.38 carat white gold diamond tennis bracelet that will be featured in the live auction.
Other auction items include:
• An OSU sports package including four front-row tickets to one non-conference Cowboy basketball game, four season tickets to Cowboy wrestling, four floor level tickets to one Cowgirl basketball game, two football tickets, a signed cowgirl soccer ball and more.
• A Thanksgiving to remember with the OSU Cowboy basketball team at Walt Disney World. The trip includes a four-night stay at the team’s hotel, Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort, and four tickets to each of the Cowboys tournament games. Other teams in the tournament include Memphis, Tennessee, Michigan State, Gonzaga, Maryland, Siena and Wichita State. The highest bidder will also receive four one- day passes to Disney World.
• Six days and five nights at a luxury beach front home in Clearwater, Fla., on the Gulf of Mexico. The home has its own pool and Jacuzzi and four bedrooms with 5.5 baths. A Suburban is available for use during the stay. A bus will provide transportation to and from the airport.
Proceeds from the event go to the Saville Center to help with the ongoing expenses of its mission to reduce the trauma of children in reported abuse cases in Payne County. The center provides a place where forensic interviews can be conducted in a less threatening environment and medical, legal, social services and law enforcement professionals can work together with the child at one place.
Since April is “Child Abuse Awareness Month,” the staff and board of the center felt it is the appropriate month to hold the fundraiser.
