Farmers’ Market 07-16-08

Krazy Daze is almost here, and so is the Stillwater Farmers’ Market Annual Summer Harvest Festival. Come try samples of free food, grilled and hot.

Every year vendors donate food to be grilled so that you can get a taste of our great, local produce. There will also be grilled buffalo and breads.

Our annual Summer Harvest Festival will be Saturday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. We will have free drawings. The Stillwater Master Gardeners will be there with demonstrations on container planting, tool sharpening and soil sampling. They will also hand out educational material.

Items to look forward to are Brussels sprout, cabbage, cantaloupe, cucumbers, eggplant, garlic, green beans, new potatoes, okra, onions, peppers, squash, tomatoes, fresh herbs, potted herbs, other bedding plants, beautiful cut and potted flowers, lavender items, lotions and soaps, fresh eggs, bison meat, Southwest cuisine, soups, breads and more.

Stillwater Farmers’ Market is open Wednesdays and Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. through Oct. 29 in Strickland Park, 309 N. Main.

All-Purpose Marinade

1/2 stick of butter

1/4-1/2 cup onion, finely minced

1/4 cup olive oil

The following ingredients are to taste, so amounts are suggestions.

1/2-1 tablespoon liquid smoke

1/2 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

1/2 tablespoon Cavender’s all-purpose Greek seasoning

Melt butter. Add oil and rest of the ingredients and simmer over low heat for 20 minutes. Brush on veggies before grilling and during grilling. This marinade is also very good on chicken or fish.
