What’s UP, Downtown?

Susie Kessler

Go Pioneers! Come on downtown Thursday, Aug 30, and help us cheer the Pioneers onto a great football season! We're having our 4th annual old fashioned pep ralley at BancFirst parking lot. There will be cheerleaders, poms, football players, coaches, and band members! All the cheering starts at 5 p.m. - bring the kids, bring grandma and grandpa - it will all be lots of fun and a slice of Americana! Now all we need is some apple pie! Does it get any better? Ok, it will be hot so bring a fan! And wear your blue and gold!

Then on Sept.11 at the Chris Salmon Plaza from 12 to 1:30 p.m., the Stillwater Community Singers and the Stillwater High School Madrigal Choir will present their September Concert sponsored by the Stillwater Sister Cities Council and the Sister Cities International. Bring a sack lunch and enjoy the performance by two outstanding music groups!

Check out the new sign in the Katz building - The neighborhood just got bigger - The Children's Museum is our new neighbor and we are very excited. Infact some of you might have heard Nancy and I yelling Bravo, Bravo when we saw the signs go up! We will keep you posted and I'm sure as they get further into the project they would appreciate all the volunteer help they can get!

Hold the presses - (I've always wanted to say that) We have a new store opening downtown - Vestige. It is located at 710 inside Kenzington Court. It will carry the complete line of Fossil which includes watches, handbags, belts, wallets, sunglasses and attachee cases. Vestige be open the day after Labor Day with the grand opening on September 7 and 8. So another date to put on your calendar!

And while I'm talking about new stores - there is a new antique store on the corner of 9th and Lewis (across from the post office) Truely we can call that area "Antique Ave.) So when you're looking for great finds on antiques - check out all the great antique stores on 9th Ave! For me shopping in antique stores is a step back into history - so even if I don't buy (like that would ever happen) it's a great education! See you downtown ....
