Our threatened culture
Ott Johnson, Editorialist
Salman Rushdie was castigated, more than 20 years ago, for writing “The Satanic Verses,” an exposé of the Muslim’s beliefs and practices. For his writing, Iran’s Ayatollah Khomeini condemned him to death and offered $1 million to the successful assassin. Rushdie remains in hiding.
National columnist Diana West recently described something similar. Dutch Parliamentarian Geert Wilders resides under heavy guard for writing about the repressive ideology of Islam, arguing against the inequities of Islamic law, and making a video to warn about Islamic jihad.
Result? Wilders has not lived in his home for many years, but remains in his native non-Islamic country under a specific Islamic death threat from Jordan. This in the West, the Netherlands, not the Middle East. It could be in the United States, and likely soon will be.
That column contained a frightening statement. Wilders was asked what was stronger in his country, Islam or multiculturalism. His reply included, “When you combine a multicultural society with a dominant sense of cultural relativism, you are headed in the wrong direction. You are committing suicide when it comes to your own culture.” Take note America.
That is the U.S. direction. Taking control of a country is now possible without firing a shot. It just takes time. Slowly and surely, Islam is winning power and acceptance in the U.S. while we enjoy the good life and vote for those promising to give us the most stuff.
Possibly, we will elect a Muslim for president this year; although he insists he is no longer a Muslim. The Koran does not condemn a Muslim for being untruthful to infidels.
Thus, we must believe or disbelieve him based on trust or doubt, since we are robbed of a method to determine the truth of his words.
Most Americans seem unable to understand the complicated Muslim world, how it works, what is allowed and how it is threatening our way of life. This story provides more insight to that world just as did “The Satanic Verses.”
Wilder was trying to stop the Muslim influx to the Netherlands. He reasons “the more we have an influx of Muslims in the Netherlands, the strength of the Islamic culture will grow, and the change of our societies will increase.” He sees his efforts as a fight against ideology that he believes will kill their freedom, kill their societies and change everything the Dutch stand for.
Obviously, the influx of Muslims has already taken his freedom away. Thanks to political correctness promoted by the far left, we here in the United States are slowly losing our freedom of speech, which is the purpose of political correctness.
Wilder describes exactly what we Americans have to look forward to unless we wise up and retake charge of our country by fighting multiculturalism propaganda and political correctness that is destroying the values our country once cherished.
Just something to think about.
Thanks to those serving and those who have served in military services for protecting our freedom.
