Political egos of Boren-Henry

Oklahoma’s Governor Henry is recommending we vote for Barack Hussein Muhammed Obama to be our next president. His reasoning is both unclear and questionable. Surely, his recommendation does not result from Obama’s experience, which is one year in our nation’s capital where he has done nothing.

Worse still is the same recommendation by OU President, David Boren. Obama has no record of anything other than attending Harvard; however, how he managed the cost of that venture is still a mystery. Still, Boren, a state employee, publicly endorses him for president. Such a privilege is historically and legally lost when one becomes an employee of the state or federal government, with exceptions for elected positions. So, how does Boren get a free pass not available to other state employees? Do these guys believe we will vote for someone just because of their recommendations? Egos!

Obama is for change and hope. We really do not need someone telling us to hope. It’s comes naturally, and we have seen many changes, some very bad. Couldn’t this guy be a little more specific? After hearing his minister rant, what exactly do you suppose Boren and Henry are thinking?

The Democrats have presidential candidates who have no management or military experience nor a real understanding of world history. The president is the administrator of the peoples business. Without knowledge of world history, mistakes of the past will be repeated. Managing a multi-trillion dollar budget plus millions of employees is a serious and complicated operation that touches the lives of all Americans and millions of others. Presidents have advisors, but final decisions remain theirs to defend, manage or be blamed.

On the other hand, the Republican candidate has plenty of experience in management and military as well as a decent understanding of history. So, the Democrats started pounding John McCain’s age as a negative. McCain is 71 years old. Ronald Reagan was 70 when he took office and 78 when his second term expired. Ronald Reagan made many positive accomplishments in those eight years, which resulted in him being considered one of our great presidents.

Nevertheless, a recent news item suggests a change we do not need. The story relates to a military person in Iraq who worked an eight-hour shift at something without receiving food. Therefore, she contacted her daddy to tell him of her terrible mistreatment.

Daddy apparently started pulling strings as women boxed food for the starving troops in Iraq. While reading this, I was reminded of World War II troops freezing and dying while many survived on K-rations or anything they could manage.

I thought of death marches; Iwo Jima; starving at Bougainville; or sitting alone, leaning against a tree with one foot missing, hoping to be picked up before bleeding to death.

I thought of many similar settings from passed wars, but complaining about a missed meal. Please! Such whining could never represent American military troops anywhere.

Just some things to think about.
