Grace S. Wheat

Grace S. Wheat, 85, of Glencoe, died on Monday, June 2, 2008, in Glencoe. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday in Glencoe First Baptist Church with Pastor James Beck officiating. Interment will be in Glencoe Cemetery Association South. Strode Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Grace was born on March 13, 1923, in Edmonton, Ky., to Curthys Smith and Inis (Riddle) Smith.

She began school in Edmonton, but before finishing high school she married Arthur D. Wheat on Jan. 30, 1942. Later in life, she was determined to get her high school diploma and so she enrolled in Norwalk High School and graduated with her youngest daughter. She was a gifted person that loved to knit and collect antique glass.

Grace was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and four sisters.

She is survived by her husband, Arthur D. Wheat of Glencoe; two sons, Carl D. Wheat of Madera, Calif. and James Wheat of Glencoe; and two daughters, Jacqueline Denice Wheat of Sanford, N.C. and Judith Brown and her husband, Richard, of Sacramento, Calif.; 11 grandchildren, Douglas Wheat of Yorba Linda, Calif., Dawn Beloit of Gerber, Calif., Kathy Starr and her husband, Don, of Glencoe, Gary Wheat and his wife, Kenya, of Coalinga, Calif., Jaime Wheat of Stillwater, Pamela Duckett and her husband, Michael, of Fontana, Calif., Angela Sampson and her husband, Chet, of Sacramento, Calif., Thomas Cheesman of Oakhurst, Calif., Craig Cheesman and his wife, Linda, of Dixon, Calif., Sonya Heiman and her husband, Sean, of Pittsfield, Calif., and Nicholas Roncancio and his wife, Kelly, of Fullerton, Calif.; and 31 great grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made in her name to Vistacare Hospice, 321 E. Broadway St., Cushing, OK 74023.
